I am a second year Fine Arts student at Georgian College. Born in London Ontario, I am currently in Barrie to pursue my career as an artist.
My oldest memories include those of painting in my basement, throwing paint around. In high school I spent almost too much time in the art room. With the help of an amazing art teacher I was left with a passion and spark for art.
Leaving high school I spent 3 years working as a cake decorator- something which shows up in a lot of my work. From that time I learned that I love making something that evokes happiness to those viewing it. (I also really just loved making cakes.) I believe it led me to this path, making art that I love, hoping others can feel something when they see my art. I believe that art is a part of me I can’t ignore so I choose to embrace it :)
I have a passion for the ocean and all living things within. I use this theme often in my work. My most recent pieces have been a look into the idea of maternal influence (or lack thereof). I personally represent the impact of having a great parent, and it inspired me to represent that through my art.
I lean towards a soft and colorful palette in my work; The colour pink is common in my work, representing femininity and joy. I have heard it is like ”candyland.”
My work is created using oil paint, screen printing, watercolour and pastel.
My intention is to make art that makes people happy. The calmness and peace art brings me is a feeling I hope to invoke to viewers. I have never felt such purpose aside from making art, and I hope everyone can take a bit of comfort from my work.
